A baker's dozen of C.S.A. members have been specially chosen to participate in connection with twelve other students from Pannasastra University of Cambodia, (it's most prestigious university) in an attempt to learn from one another through culture, friendship, and trust.

Spring, 2008

WELCOME!

Over the next several weeks, I invite you to have fun getting to know each other! PUC students are eager to practice their English and learn of American culture…and CSUF students are excited to make new Cambodian friends and learn more aspects of Cambodian culture (although CSUF CSA students' heritage is Cambodian, most have grown up in the United States, in American culture). Since I visited PUC in 2006 as a guest faculty, I am happy to now "connect" PUC & CSUF students.

For the next 2 weeks, please email back & forth with your assigned penpal, below. For the first week, discuss topics (school, family, and leisure). For the second week, discuss topics(entertainment, culture, and future). At the end of the second week, I will email you all again and mix up the list for new penpals. You will meet 3 new penpals (6 weeks). Everyone will have the opportunity to have both a male & female penpal.

Some guidelines: (1) the language of your email communication is English. Occasional Cambodian words are okay, put spell them with English letters. CSUF computers do not have the Cambodian script installed. (2) Try to exchange about 2-3 emails per week. More is okay if you both agree, and have time. (3) CSUF students will start first, sending an email about themselves on Topic 1. (4) PUC students: if you have any questions or problems, see your coordinator Sokny Kim; CSUF students: if you have any questions or problems, see your president Angelica Keam, or me. Have fun pen-pal'ing everyone!
